Midtown Rising is a community group jointly sponsored by the Clinton Avenue and Saint James United Methodist Churches. We meet together twice a month at Clinton Avenue on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month to build community with our neighbors and to organize around important issues facing our neighborhood. Our group is committed to addressing these challenges in real and tangible ways – we are currently researching different models for addressing affordable housing solutions within our community and are partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Youthbuild and local community members to rehab a vacant neighborhood home. We also regularly participate in community events that help us build positive relationships with our neighbors, including fundraisers for the soup kitchen and Sunday School and Clinton Avenue UMC, active participation in City initiatives and community clean up days during the fall and spring. If you’re interested in being a part of a supportive community that is rooted in a broad-based sense of spirituality and united by our common humanity, we invite you to join us. Please see the calendar on the homepage to see our next event. We’d love to see you there.
